Things are getting Better!

I'm in the process of getting this place upgraded with a new solar system, a bathroom and closet add on to the cabin and eventually a large screened in patio in front of the cabin. Probably an outdoor kitchen under the patio later on. I also plan to buy a chest freezer, get the fridge going again and be able to run the AC during the day. All of this should make life a lot easier. Unfortunately I'm unable to do the work my self any more so I'm relying on $ and friends to do it.

This is the frame for the new panels and I also plan to turn it in to a storage shed also. I will be able to get added water catchment from it and also the extra from the add on to the back of the cabin.

The new panels that will be on top of the frame.

This will be the control center where the batteries, inverter and charge controller stay. The inverter is a pure sign wave 8000 watt with a built in controller. It is a 24 volt system rather than 12 volts like the old system and is dual 220 volt and 110 volt output. I'm keeping the 12 volt system and upgrading it just to run a chest freezer and the fridge.

The batteries for the new system. I'm using 4 just like them for the 12 volt system.

    1. MsB, I won't be able to run the AC at night, but it sure should make a big difference during the day. It should also be easier to have the cabin cool a lot quicker at night.

    1. DD, I don't think a person can have too much power. That doesn't go for corrupt politicians though. ;)

  5. That's a huge upgrade.!!
So how many watts of panels will this add for the 24V system? And what is the AH rating on those new batts?
Glad to see this juice boost for your place.
    Adios..

  6. The panels are 120 watt each and I don't remember what the AH on the batteries is.

  7. Good stuff David - I still have 2 4x8 floor sections to get to you - and insulation - for your bathroom/shower. I'll be there 19-26 May. Bernie O

    1. Bernie, If plans go as they are I probably couldn't use them because Mike wants to pour a slab and not use pear and beam. I haven't made up my mind on that yet though because it would cause several problems.

    2. Woops that should have been pier and not pear.

    1. The one that Ron sold me with this system is a Power Jack 8000 watt. Its a pure sine wave with built in charge controller. Its a 24 volt inverter with 110 volt and 220 volt output. its only good for 8000 watts at 220 volts and 4000 at 110. They are made in China, but there are a lot of people using them down here that are happy with them. Best way to get the specs on them are search ebay for power jack inverters. they make from 3000 watt to 15000 watt.
