Burn Ban Lifted

Burn Ban Lifted

But I'm paying the Legion to use their dumpster now so this news doesn't mean a lot to me. Of course potential volunteer fighters need to keep an eye pealed. ;)

Just Me (Julianne Braun) just tipped me off to this.

  1. Did it finally rain down there or did everything that might burn just dry up and blow away?

  2. Will stuff start blooming again or is it oo late in the year?

  3. BKid, a little bit of both.

DD, hard to tell on that. Some stuff might go ahead and bloom, but most its probably too late. Maybe if the occasional rain or sprinkles keeps up we will have a decent summer next year as far as the blooming and producing fruit goes. The low lands around here are doing pretty good. Lee told me he went by my other land and it was green and the grass was getting tall.

  5. The area does have a lot of fall blooms. Maybe this year will be a good one. More rain predicted. Bring It On Ma Nature.

  6. JP, No doubt some things will be blooming, but for the most part the stuff I'd be wanting to use for food has already bloomed in areas that have had more rain. Up here they never did bloom or bloom is all they did and they didn't put on fruit. Prickly Pears either haven't bloomed or didn't put on fruit that could be used. Strawberry cactus bloomed, but the fruit was too small to eat or use. Yuccas never bloomed here at all although they have both bloomed and put on fruit in other areas. I don't think they will now.

BTW I added your blog to My Blog List.

  7. Glad to hear that, even though you are covered I am sure a lot of people are happy they can burn their trash once more.

  8. MsB, I guess we'll see how long the ban stays lifted. I personally didn't figure they would ever lift it again. At least I can start welding again. (When I get he chance.)

  9. I haven't been to my place since last fall but after last summers drought there wasn't much prickly pear cactus alive and the probably 20 year old dagger yuccas were dead too.
Hopefully the hard core drought is over and things are lookin up.

  10. JP, there are some Yuccas up here that have bit the biscuit, but some seem to be making a come back. Just not blooming. There are a few prickly pears that have also gone away, but a few are still hanging on. A lot of stuff is probably dead, but then there are survivors of about all. Hopefully next spring we'll see some improvements. It wasn't only the drought it was also that very cold winter that reeked havoc.
