Cobras & Rain

Photo from last year's run. Ford GT pictured

For those who are or will be in the area you might want to come out to the American Legion on Saturday afternoon 10/06. The Mustang Cobras and Ford GTs will be pulling in to the legion around 3:00 ish afternoon after their yearly high speed run down 118. Lots of fun and lots of high $$$ cars to look at. That will likely be one or more Ford GTs (I think about $150,000 worth), numerous Mustang Cobras and maybe a Shelby AC Cobra kit car or two.

RAIN!

It rained most of the afternoon yesterday and well in to last night. Final tally looking at the gage this morning was right on 2.5 inches! Add .2 to that from day before yesterday. Sure wish I'd have had catchment setup because it would have probably filled the water tank to over flowing. Unfortunately by the time I could do that the rainy season will be over. Maybe next year, but I'd need a lot more tank for it to last me over a month. Also wish the dam was about 8 feet longer and I'd have had a pretty nice pond this morning.

  1. Isn't that almost your yearly rain fall all in one day? Glad you got a good rain.

  3. Sandy, I'm sure glad I don't have to mess with a lawn down here. At least that is one benefit of surviving down here.

  4. Hey...think a lawn mower repair shop along 118 would be a money maker?

  8. I think there is already a small engine, motorcycle, ATV shop down there just off of 118.
What they need down there is a midget chain saw and leaf blower shop since none of the trees are over 4 feet tall.

  12. When the Cobras come down, it is always cool. Got a new camera, and someone to cover me, so I should get some really good pics. Budweiser kid, you ever coming back down here? Man we'd like to see you again. If not, I have had people ask if you are selling stuff off.

  15. I might come down in the spring to visit, we might come down to stay when Greg finishes school. I'm not going to sell anything yet, I'm surprised somebody hasn't stolen everything already

  17. Denese, I think they hang out Lajitas resort and probably spend several days. From what I hear they can be seen racing at the airport and doing cruses. Them being at the legion is just a yearly thing after they make the high speed run down 118.

  18. Well, I had a heck of a time this year. Met lots of good folks, seen more expensive cars than a Genie could give me. Got some good pics and drove my bartender crazy. All in all, a good time.
