Monsoon? / Camera

Got 2/10 inches of rain last night and 9/10 inch today (so far). Its still misting and may rain more later. I wanted to go down to the pond to see what it was like, but it was still misting so I broke out the umbrella I got at an estate sale. It just happened to be on a pallet of junk I won the bid on and it finally came in handy. The Pond? Well its a pond, but the dam doesn't go far enough east so before the water can get very deep it runs around the east end. To bad because it has the potential to be a fair sized pond.

Looks like my old Kodak camera finally gave up the ghost. I've given it hell over the years by accidentally dropping it a couple of times from around 5 feet high and left it out in the rain once, but it was always there for me. It was a pretty high dollar camera about 10 years ago and I bought it to out do my youngest step daughter. (To me more like a daughter) She died of breast cancer a couple of years later so the camera has a lot of sentimental value to it. I sure miss her!

BTW at this time the rain is back. A high % chance of rain is in the forecast until next Tuesday.

  1. Ah, the tools of modern living. It looks like a pretty darn good umbrella you've got there. Sorry to hear about your camera. I'm always wanting to post photos on my blog but don't have a camera. Now that I'm up in civilization and have a part-time job, I can finally buy one. I hope you're able to get a new one soon because Terlingua has a lot to offer for photo making.

  2. Rubye Jack, yes it is a very good umbrella and I just paid $13 for the whole pallet. That isn't a picture f mine, but mine is identical. Quiet a lot of usable stuff on the pallet.

My old camera is only 3.5 mega pixels, but back when I got it that was considered pretty high. Now I can probably get an El Cheapo that will blow that away. I'll sure miss the zoom, sound with video and all the other bells and whistles a cheap camera won't have.

  4. I was wondering if you were getting rain down your way. Glad to hear you are.

Sorry about your camera. After my good one gave out on me in the heat of my Terlingua tent I bought an el cheapo one and it has been great.

  5. My camera also bit the dust, so I bought a cheap Kodak. Does the trick :)

  6. MsB, it was dark at 6:45 this morning when I went to start the charger so the rain gage was hard to see, but it looks like 2 1/2 inches. It rained a good bit yesterday afternoon and was still raining about 10:30 when I conked out. It must have stopped some time after that and then woke up later when it started raining again.

Dani, I'll see what I can find next trip to Alpine.

With the cloudy conditions all day yesterday even running the charger for an hour and a half yesterday morning it didn't hold up because the low voltage alarm started squawking at 6:45 this morning. If you'll don't have a charger RMan needs to build you'll one. Sooner or later you'll need it.

BTW while I was stooping in front of the battery hut this morning when I stood up something happened to my lower back. Now it hurts like hell so I won't be able to do anything even if it clears off.
