This is a new group of napped flint, but still the only tools is the scrapers the women used to skin game with. (No arrowheads or spear points so far.) We found a napping site and it appears someone was working on something large like a spear point at that one site. We did this search in the morning and walking toward the sun to help spot the stuff. Also started finding some fossils. Supposedly you search walking east when the sun is in the east and west when its in the west. I plan to keep scouring this place as weather and sunshine permits.

Very cool - well done :)
ReplyDeleteDani, I keep hoping to find either some arrowheads or a spear point, but may not happen since they were living up here and probably not hunting here.
ReplyDeleteThe indians sat around making arrow points and leaving the chips at their camp sites. They took the finished points with them on the end of arrows or spears. Keep looking, maybe you will find one of their rejects.
ReplyDeleteDD, that's basically what I'm looking for. I have found one that looks like a failed attempt at an arrowhead. a spear head like that would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteTalk about a great find, I love finding a piece of history like this.
ReplyDeleteStill got a lot of looking to do Sandy. No telling what else I'll find because most of this and the other stuff were in a fairly small area. (Probably less than a half acre.)
ReplyDeleteNice find! But please be careful with the "snakes" :(
ReplyDeleteMsB, I watch real good for snakes, but there's always the chance of missing one until its too late. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to afford a set of snake boots.
ReplyDeleteHere's an interesting post from a new neighbor of yours.
ReplyDeleteWe’re full time off-gridders! (and I am going to die.)
