Taken here a couple of evenings ago.
What you don't see down here very often. One of the legion customers has this parked in the Legion parking lot and wants to sell it for $500. He says he has the sails for it. Seems to be in decent shape. Not sure of the length.
Same customer has the (I think) 1966 Harley Sprint for sale also $500 I think. These were bought by Harley back in the 60s from Ducati (Italian) and rebadged as Harleys. I rode some of these back in the 60s and they were pretty cool at the time. I'd say this one would cost a fortune to restore.
Another customer of the Legion has this trailer for sale. If anyone is interested in any of them let me know here. Hopefully sales will generate a donation to the Legion?

I love blue bonnetts. We have plenty of them in Texas.
ReplyDeleteBack in the sixties I had a one cylinder Italian Harley that/was/set up for circle racing. Brake and gearshift were reversed (on the wrong sides). Love the sunset pic.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I guess here we have Ladybird Johnson to thank for all the blue bonnets. When LBJ was governor or president Ladybird had them planted along all the Texas highways.
ReplyDeleteDD, I know they were imported for different things. Some were called scramblers IF I remember correctly and some were street bikes. The one in the picture has a head and tail lights so I assume it was one of the street bikes. (Although now it has a knobby on back and a semi knobby on front.) I think they made a 350 cc version, but the one in the picture is a 250. I rode my cousins 250 a few times and seems like I rode a 350 at one time. At the time my Yamaha 250 2 stroke would run circles around the sprints though. Understandable because of the Yamaha being a 2 stroke.
Well Hell, I thought you were going to sell the parking lot.
ReplyDeleteBkid, I Ain't selling anything. I ain't the commander yet. Stay tuned...
ReplyDeleteIs Zano still the commander? How's he doing? Are changes on the horizon?
DeleteI love that picture of the bluebonnets and the sunset...absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMsB, I'm having to get creative just to have pictures to post.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are doing a good job of it :)
ReplyDeleteWell thanks for the compliment MsB.
ReplyDeleteAnon, as far as I know Zano is fine and he is still the commander, but that should change here in a couple of months. He wants out from what I hear and its time for changes anyway. I will be running for commander and if elected I plan to change a lot of stuff. Some are bring back the Women's Auxiliary, bring back the Sons of the Legion, and get food back in the legion whether it be prepared there or sandwiches and so on brought in.
ReplyDeleteWell, good luck with your Legion commander run! I remember the place used to have food, and even served hot food. Kitchen must've run into some regulations.
DeleteGlad to hear Zano's stroke isn't the reason he's thinking of turning in the keys. Man, seems like he's been there forever...actually, I guess he has - he founded it, didn't he? Again, good luck - sounds like you have some good and useful plans to expand it a bit, and with you living so close, sure would be convenient.
No Zano didn't found it. It was there long before he became the commander.
