Ok Folks, for those of you who will be in the area there will be a Free Thanksgiving dinner served at the Legion Thursday at 3:00 PM. I'll be making the dressing so don't no body knock it! ;) As far as I know there will be at least 4 bloggers we all know besides myself. Would be nice to see more!

  1. It sounds like a warm and welcome feast, appropriate to giving thanks. Hope everyone likes your dressing.

  3. pipsqeek, if they don't like my dressing then I'll have the border patrol pick them up for being illegal aliens. ;) Kidding of course.

DD, I'm not cooking the birds so no worry about that.

  6. They'd better not complain about your cooking. The bird and dressing is standard. I'll be making gumbo and bread pudding, too. Should be interesting trying to get the fixins for oyster dressing next year.

  7. Allen, I think it is supposed to be a nice day. Friday is when the cold front is supposed to be here now I think. Wish you'll could be here.

Beats doing without doesn't it BB. Also beats spending turkey day alone.

D-Rose, Never had oyster dressing before, but I've heard of it. Don't know how I'd like it because so far the only way I like oysters is smoked or breaded and fried. I'm real partial to that!!!

My last year in Plano I decided to do an untraditional turkey day dinner and had Shrimp, Shrimp, Shrimp and meat prepared for tamales, but used to stuff dinner rolls instead. The Shrimp was Shrimp scampi, boiled shrimp and fried shrimp. Believe it or not it all went over real well.

  8. Oh yeah. The meat was pork roast slow cooked with ground chilies and a lot of seasoning. It was real good stuffed in the dinner rolls! Of course there was also mustard potato salad also made by me and several other dishes.

  10. Duke, I doubt that I'll be there tomorrow and am pretty sure none of the rest will be either. Turkey day would be the best time to find everyone.

I would have liked to hang out at legion with the other crusty old vets, but I got several appionments coming up at Audie Murphy VA Hospitol next month. (my warrenty expired)

Oh' yeah almost forgot. The last two nights a Predetor Drone aircraft flew over my house on its way back to base. Dang! those things are quiet and they travel really slow (50-60 knots)The border patrol are using them on the South Texas border and they are luanched from a nearby base. (I made sure to wave and smile) So they can see me clearly in their FLIR camera's. (forward looking infrared)

  12. CC, that sounds mighty high tech for the BP! I've yet to see one down here, but have heard they have them. I have seen some weird looking military type planes down here other then the B1s and B52s. They were white though and it looked like they were playing chase.

Sorry to hear about the need to go to the VA. I'd almost rather be shot.

  13. I think I enjoy eating the dressing more than I do the turkey.

Have a wonderful time and take a lot of pictures.

I will be having an untraditional thanksgiving meal so Billy Bob not everyone will be eating turkey and dressing tomorrow. Quit being a trouble maker...grrrr!!!

The VA's changed a lot over the years. In fact they are more professional than most civilian doctor office's. They always verify they got the right patient etc. It simular now to working in Military Aviation. lots of checks and balences.

  19. I would like to thank everyone who came out and joined us at the Legion tonight, and I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the dinner. I hope you all had a great meal and a great time.

David, if you know how to contact JustMe, Julie-Anne(hope that's spelled right), could you let her know that she forgot one of her bowls here?

  20. cc, I guess if I come up with an emergency one of these days I'll find out. I haven't been there in years because the old hospital in Dallas was the pits!!!

Will do Dave. I'm going over there in the morning to get some siding for the storage building.

MsB, I forgot the camera after all so no pictures from me. Don't know if anyone else that I know took any or not?

And for the dressing I made at least one pan wint over pretty good. I made one pan of traditional cornbread dressing and one pan of Jalapeño / Chicken Fajita, cornbread dressing. The later was the one that went over the best. That was just one of my experiments that actually came out good and that doesn't always happen. ;)

  21. Your dressing was WONDERFUL!!! Thank you for the effort..

  22. Thanks Frann, I just got the last of both from justMe while I was over there getting the siding. There was very little of either left and most of it was the traditional type. There wouldn't have been near as much jalapeño in that if Bigfoot hadn't dropped me off a few HUMONGOUS jalapeños while I was making it.
