Turkey Day - Turkey Lady

Having dinner with a friend fell through and not eating turkey dinner got the best of me so I walked over to the cafe to see if they were serving anything else besides the $15 dinner. Nope... It was either pay the $15 or do without. I almost fell for that until I walked over to the buffet to see what they had. In my case it was what they didn't have. (No breast or white meat.) All they had in the way of turkey was deep fried drumsticks and wings and I don't like either. To add insult to injury some woman was holding up the line by being parked in front of the pan that had the drumsticks in it and was butchering all of the drumsticks and putting the meat in her kids plates and then leaving what was left of the drumsticks for the people waiting on her to move. Guess all of that saved me $15 and I'll eat some noodles and cheese or something like that. I'm not a big eater anyway and at best I might have been able to eat a half plate of food.

  1. Don't feel bad, my dinner plans with a friend fell through as well. No big deal plan on eating a big old turkey leg tomorrow at the Renissance Festival.

Sounds like you saved more than $15 by not having to put up with that lady and her kids.

  2. I was standing behind the woman trying to see what was there to eat and when I saw what she was doing she heard me mumble a few choice words. The first four words I mumbled were "You've got to be" I didn't think about her holding a steak knife and fork at the time and she sure gave me a dirty look, but she didn't use them on me. ;)

  4. Geeze MsB and tffn, so sorry your dinner plans were messed up. It only happens one time a year and at that one time, everyone should have a turkey dinner complete with all the usual trim'ns. Next year will be different.

  5. Just Me, don't tell me that or I'll have to clean RV! I need to anyway though though.

BBob, I'd dropped the traditional thanksgiving back in Plano a few years ago and had pots full of shrimp scampi, boiled shrimp and a lot of other stuff. A lot less waste than turkey, because of no bones to get rid of and everyone always pigged out. Still turkey is real nice.

  9. Shame you didn't get a good meal. However, brilliant that you saw the nightmare of bad food and worse company before committing to paying the $15 and getting out of there.

  10. Thanks to Just Me I did have thanksgiving dinner yesterday and today to. She just couldn't make it here on Thanksgiving. Thanks you very much Just Me for your company, the grub, (which I'll be eating for a few more days)and shooting some cool fire arms! Also for introducing me to some good people.

  13. OGT, haha.

Funny, last week with a band member in one of the bands I'm with, I told him to get rid of the unreliable drummer we have and us the one he just played with at the open mic night. He asked why?

So I said "Well, for starters she's better looking then Alex. Secondly she's probably going to turn up and not disappear for three months.

I'd much rather look at her than Alex.

When I was in high school I was called gay for being the only bloke who picked Design & Tech (Home Economics for your Americans). I didn't see how I could be gay, I was surrounded by girls while the rest of the boys were surrounded by each other. Sounds like a sausage fest to me. :)
