Oh well... What else is new?

The three picture are the best of the best of the new land out of about 38 pictures + three videos of 360s on and around the land. The videos are too much for this internet connection to handle. Not sure why I call it new land though because we all know its VERY OLD. Its new to me though and I like it a lot more than the other plat! I stopped by the American legion for the first time and will join it as soon as I can round up a copy of my discharge papers. That could be a problem though because it appears that the storage building 220 miles away from here was breached and I received notification today about that. The door was open, but since the people that own the storage didn't know what was in it they couldn't tell whether anything was missing or not. At least they assured me that they have video surveillance so we will see... Maybe? $109 a month for a high tech storage?  In it would have been my original discharge papers and a few copies + my welder, a lot of shop tools, hardware, computer with sensitive info and no telling what else was in there. I wonder what I did in a past or present life to deserve all the BS? I do get to keep the rock driveway even in the safe zone though and it shows up even in the satellite view. (Picture 4)

UPDATE

The picture above shows about how the grid map should be and the red line at the bottom is what the grid map shows. The black squares are more like the property boundaries should be.

  2. Odessa TX, but I just talked to my bro in law and the contents seem to be undisturbed. Big Sigh of relief!!! How that happened is beyond me unless some one mistook that one for theirs and the key actually worked?

Great news from bro in law.

  4. From the looks of the map, with your old and new corners, it looks like your property is a bit smaller than you were originally led to believe. Still nice though.
Did you get the radiator in the Falcon? I guess you did, or else you wouldn't have made it out to the land to get these pictures.
Hope all goes well from here on out. Good luck.

  5. The original corners were from the seller and appear to have been based on the tract maps that are online overlaid on the google earth aerial photos. The aerial photos and tract map overlay aren't property aligned and they're off by different amounts in different parts of the ranch. I looked at tract maps for David and came up with coordinates for where I thought his corners should be based on realignment of the tract map overlay. There was about 60 difference in the coordinates north to south and about 20 feet east to west. To play it safe, the new "corners" were set up with about 100 feet around the egdes except along the road where 50 feet was used. The idea being that these are not the corners of the property, but the corners of the area in which it should be safe to build or alter the land without too much risk of finding out later that improvements had been made to a neighboring tract.

David, sorry I didn't get to see your property or work with my 100' tape this weekend. Other things came up that had to be dealt with. Will talk with you about it off the blog.

  6. Just Me, I found where I want to build on it, but will have to buy a hammer drill to be able to do what I want to do. 4 inches of top soil before plate rock! I managed to make it to the Field Lab finally and John told me it is easy enough to drill the rock and bust it out so Looks like I need a hammer drill and long bit to go with the generator I'll need and everything else.

Allen, what Just Me said. Those new corners are just a safety buffer and when I get a survey I'll get all of the land. Just won't be exactly like the coordinates show.

  7. I just added an image that shows more how the property boundaries should be (in the black squares) and the red line is about where the grid map shows the south boundary to be. Can't be right!

  8. Im trying to figure out when I can get u the generator. ITs just sittin at my place. Im busy until after new years. I think the cost of shipping is out of the question.

  9. OGT, I couldn't do that deal with you for several reasons. The main one is that I could get busted for doing a survey without a license. Then there is the problem with the coordinates. See the image below. With the coordinates you posted that would come out to be almost 25 acres so your 5 acres could be almost anywhere in it. On the other hand notice I also added the part in the red box which might be the way the coordinates were supposed to be, but it looks like that would be less than 5 acres. What you need to do is contact the people you bought it from to get the (Almost real) coordinates so you would actually know where to look for it. The landscape could change a lot in 25 acres. It does a lot just on my 10 acres. I had intended to go out there in the general area and take a few pictures when I went to the Field Lab, but the electric fuel pump was giving problems in the falcon so I didn't want to get stranded out there. Too damn far to walk back to the highway. I just made a b-line back to 118 as fast as I could. As far as the generator goes ALCO in Alpine has a 2000 watt with the 120 volt and 12 volt outputs for $179 so I'll probably buy one of those. That would just be to run my power tools and charge batteries though because I'll have to get a bigger one later that will run my welder.

    OGT's Land?

  10. Thanks anyway, the pin in the picture marked number 2 is my fault. Was the wrong coordinates. When redone with the correct coordinates it makes the completed rectangle in the red a long narrow 5 acres. As for the survey, I dont know who would bust you for two painted rocks at the front for a general location and a few pictures but ok, like I said before Im not building on it until I get it surveyed professionally. No problems though , Ill just take some time off and doit. I think that is a great deal for a 2000 watt generator. I do have a larger one 8500 watt for $ 800 if you want something that large for your welder or if you know anyone that wants it.

    back to square one.

  11. The 8500 watt would probably do the welder, but it will be a good while down the road before I can afford it. I think someone else on your blog was interested in it, but I think they posted it as anonymous if I remember correctly. I'll be able to use the 2000 watter to run my power tools and it would be good for keeping batteries charged and do it a lot more economically than a larger generator so I'll need two different ones anyway.
