Plans of mice and men

The pictures are of how I see this working eventually. I want to go with a single 12X16 to start with and then add the other one and eventually the car port. To understand the workings of the toilet you would probably have to be a Viet Nam era vet or older. My thinking is with a well vented setup (drawing outside air for the vent) and having a well sealed toilet door that this should be doable. I guess I'd have to do it to see though.

And for  Allen Hare Here are the links to my main site:

  1. Enjoyed the Falcon website. About your purposed building. It would seem to me that in such a small space you would want to place the toilet and shower in a seperate structure outside. That way you are not having to deal with foul odors in your living space. maybe have a portable one for night use, or for the lady friend that might want to sleep over. It also frees up a lot of space.

  2. Riverhauler, you might be right, but this is something I want to try. If it doesn't work out it will be easy enough to take out. It would just be an add on with 2x3 studs and pretty easy to remove. It would be convenient and any lady friends might appreciate not having to go out in bad weather.;)

  3. I am also in agreement with "Riverhauler" concerning the toilet area. Maybe a camping style toilet for the "soft" company but for every day use somthing out and away might be more pleasent. The indoor option would however be good in case of illness. So where do you keep the beer?

  4. With good venting and entry door to bathroom it might be fine. I like the separate bldgs with the carport yoking them together.

There is a lady in Terlingua who has had an outdoor kitchen/shower for a long time. weather is good for it. you might consider just keeping your bed/living area inside and the rest in the coverd outdoor area. Just a thought.

  5. my futura was a 1962 just like the one on your falcon link tourquiose and white. almost identical. I did all the restore work, it was a good little car but the stearing wheel was too close for comfort. small car made for little old ladys in 62'

  6. There's only one way to find out if it will work or not.;) The porta pottys don't usually smell mainly because of the vent system, but of course they use deodorizer in them. Guess we'll see if and when I get that far. Like I said if it doesn't work out then it will get moved to an outdoor area.

OGT the picture on the main site changes each time you go to it. I guess it was just luck that that particular car came up on your visit.

  8. Just sent an email to the HOA asking how I go about getting my road graded. Guess I'll see if I even get a reply or maybe even get some lame excuse why they can't get to it.

  9. lol, good luck on the road grading. They were grading it before when they still had the lodge open and paying for upkeep on it. and now that the lodge is closed and they have less expenses , they say they cannot afford to grade the roads except on a limited basis.

Squeek loud buddy, you might get greased.

  10. At least I have had a few replies and now Poter construction is now in contact with me to see about getting it done. Of course now that the HOA has found out that I plan to move on the land they said they would prorate the HOA fee and bill me for it. Oh well... I was planning to pay it anyway.

  11. Terlingua Ranch is not an HOA. We have a Terlingua Ranch Maintenence Agreement. But there is no HOA nor POA that makes any rules as to what you can and can not do with your property. :-)

  12. Thanks for the links, Dave. I'll check them out tonight. It was great meeting you while we were down for the chili cook-off. Wish we could've stayed longer. I would've volunteered the little Bronco, in 4x4 mode, to help grade your road. We're back home now, and back to reality. Will subscribe to your blog, and follow your progress. I'll have stories, pics, and videos of our trip to Terlingua/Big Bend on my blog in the days to come, so look for it there.
