The Guests

The guests are on the road and I'll be heading out after while to MAYBE take a shower. Being how its spring break that might cause a problem though. Maybe I should take Dale's pup tent and camp out by the shower room? Not sure what time they will be back this afternoon, but I'm sure they will want to be back before dark. It was pretty cold this morning and cloudy so we were huddled around a fire until they left. At least the sun is now in and out so maybe it will start warming up. Meanwhile I'm back in the dungeon with the heater going.

  1. Condition update... Now the wind is howling, its still pretty cool out and it looks like its clouding up again. The Guest's ride may not be a very good one.

  2. Doesn't sound too good, does it?

  3. Were they going to ride the river road?

  4. Still windy as HELL, but its at least halfway partly cloudy/sunny and has warmed up some. Still cool in the wind. Just got a voice mail from Dale saying they were on the way back and should be here around 4:00. Its 4:12 here now and I just got back from SB myself. This time managed to get to the shower. Ahhhhh... Sure made me feel better, but now after eating also I need a nap!

RN, I don't know? I guess he can tell you.

  5. Taking another nap! You sure are enjoying that Tirlunga retirement. Glad to see Dale out there to visit.

  6. do they serve food at the leagion?

  7. Tigger, I found a good use for that satellite dish tarp I got from you. It part of it now covers the outside of the throne in the It'll Du and part is the door flap. Hope you didn't have an emotional attachment to it? ;)

OGT, For now they aren't serving food at the legion. They're working on the building and can't serve food until they get finished.

  8. Great photo of your guests. The background is spectacular, with the mountains and clouds. They look like a fun loving bunch. Hope y'all have a good time.

  9. The troops are on the move again and expect to be back here around 1:00 or 2:00. So far it is ONE BEAUTIFUL DAY! Hope I don't jinks it by saying that! I plan to start working on the wind genny pole and hopefully have it where Dale can help me put it up this afternoon (if the wind doesn't get up).

We got buzzed by one of the B1 bombers about 10:30 last night and fortunately we were all gathered around a fire outside and got to watch it buzz us instead of being inside and being startled by it. Being how Dale is also a big fan of military planes he thought it was extremely cool (as did I) With the lighting on it it almost looked like a UFO.

Bye for now! I need to get busy. ;)

  13. RN, I think they are headed for Del Rio? (left about 10:30 and they missed seeing the B1 go over again by about an hour.

Raye, you're such a nasty girl. ;) Yes the genny is up with a photo of it and the troops who helped me put it up. All helped and it wasn't bad. Don't think I could have done it by myself! (See picture I added to this thread)

  14. Ya know , before I jump to conclusions that a 2 prop wont work very well, Ill just shut up and wait and see what u say. I saw a wind generator that was mounted not very high like yours is in Lancaster CA. It seemed to be working fine despite what every one said about how you need to put it at least 30 ft in the air. I have to guess that being so windy there most the time, yours will do fine. ( as long as the blades are balanced and not made of plastic.)

  15. RN, Nope, but they rode it in Plano before. They were going to take it to the legion go get ice, but we all went down there instead. Me on the trike and them on the Harleys.

OGT, that is a commercial wind generator and has composite blades. I bought it just before 9/11 and the wind seeker 502 was replaces by the wind seeker 503. (Difference being the 503 has 3 blades and the 502 just had 2 blades.) The output is the same and the only real difference is that two blades vibrate more because of a pitch and yaw problem associated with an even number of blades. Never the less the wind has gotten up and it is doing its thing quiet well now. I can get a replacement 3 blade prop for it if I wanted to, but don't see a reason because it is stand alone so I don't have to worry about it vibrating the house like it did in Plano. I also figure the vibration where it is in the critter field will keep the critters and rattle snakes run off???

BTW when I start building my own again I'll be using three blades or going to S-Rotor type.

  16. cool, have u put a meter on it yet? whats your best wattage output you have had on it so far?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I added a picture of last night's sunset with the genny in it and a picture of the volt meter on it running in a minimal wind today. Don't know about the watts, but the volts were high enough to start charging. For now I just have the two batteries that aren't coming around too good on it and hope about a week on the genny will knock all the sulfide off the plates and bring them around. If not then I'll move the whole bank and home built gas charger out there and hook the banks up to it. Should cut down on the need for the gas charger a bunch.

  18. Hey I know those people. How you been? I've only got about 14 more weeks out here, then I'll be Official! Best of luck to you, talk to you later.

  19. We made it to Del Rio, no problem. Glad to hear the wind came back when we left, we figures it must have as we got a pretty good side wind coming down 90 for a while. We sure had a great time and are figuring on when we can make it back. You have a beautiful place and we're looking forward to seeing it come along. Thanks to all for the well wishes on out trip, we've still got over 500 miles to get back home. I'll tell everyone to come out too. I'll keep you updated on the trip home.

  20. Hey grand Nephew, welcome to the blog. Too bad you couldn't have been here to.

Dale, glad you'll didn't have any trouble. The wind was only up and down so it didn't have a chance to do much. Its back to no wind again now. Maybe tomorrow, but I can sure do without the real high wind. Its plumb lonely now that you'll are gone. I'd gotten used to it, but now the old lonesome has returned.

No! Don't tell everyone to come out because not everyone is welcome here.

  21. I only meant the ones that are! I have no idea who you are or where you are to anyone else. I just saw the weather for the rest of our trip home, snow??? You've got to be kidding me!!! O well, if you don't like the weather here, wait 5 minutes.

    Dale

  22. Oh No! Not Snow. ;) I think I prefer the wind or no wind, sun and sand, B1 and B52 strafing over snow.

No wind at all again this morning so the genny is functioning as a wind sock only. I guess it isn't totally useless?
