Yep... Its here.

Above left to right... Ashley who is Dwight's spouse. (Dwight being my grand Nephew) Dwight, Johny Bollinger (my newly adopted Nephew) Rarely done other than to good people!, then there is Dale which most know is my nephew, Rhonda (Dale's wife) and Norma Jean my grand niece. Of course Pepper is seen walking away from one of her newly found boyfriends. (Probably to go visit the other one) What a fickle girl she is!

Johny who is the guy that brought the RV down here from AZ. Great guy and a real card!

Here you see Pepper posing with her new home. She seemed to like it real well at first and explored every cranny. However, now that the wind is really high and the trailer has been Rock'in &; Roll'in she seems to not like it too well. Matter of fact I think she would just as soon go back to the dungeon. Oh well... the poor girl had better get used to it. I hear we have some really bad weather and a lot of rain on the way. BTW I'd almost forgot about how the wind was in RN and RV's trailer at the BBMI. Guess I'll have to get used to that again to because it is much cooler in here!

I did spend a good bit of the day redoing some really screwed up stuff some previous owner had done. Got the over head AC working as if I could afford to run it, but at least that and a few other things are back like they came from the factory. Lots more to do, but it will get done as I can get to it.

Big fight at the Legion
Went to the Legion for  a couple of happy beers this afternoon at the legion this afternoon and we got treated to a fight. Not what you think though! It was out front on the patio where a Vinegaroon and a Sun spider.

  3. That's close I and also this is a lot closer to the wind genny and with the door open for a breeze it sounds like we're getting buzzed by a Cessna. Oh well. that sound sounds like free electricity to me.;)

Abby, Should do fine, but I do plan to strap it down and under skirt it as soon as I can. Also hook up the water tank so the sink can be used. I've decided to keep using the It'll Du shower and other facility though. The shower in here is just too cramped. The gray water from the sink will be used for watering something? Of course when winter gets here I may change my mind about the shower.

MC, that's exactly what I said when I saw it coming down the road. ;)

  5. Andy, that will have to be after I'm seen driving the get away vehicle pulling the Legion's float at the parade in SB. I say get away vehicle because if anyone starts throwing rotten tomatoes or eggs I'll be hooking um up! ;)

  6. I see a roof vent up there. Is that a Fantastic Fan? Had one in my Casita travel trailer back when I lived in Austin and LOVED it! Opened up my back window at night and the fan pulled the cool breeze over me. Of course, I was on shore power in the RV park there, but I still don't think the draw was that bad.

  7. I had to come and look again.

I am so thankful you have this now ... so very, very thankful.

I had tears in my eyes when I first saw these pictures.

I felt dread everytime I thought of you in that dungeon ... now I feel better.

    ((((hug))))

  8. Abby, the vents don't have fans, but they do help a good bit. I need to re screen some of the windows to take full advantage of the cross breezes. I actually had to close one window mostly this evening though because it was way too much of a breeze. More like a hurricane.

MC, I felt the dread to. Imagine that. ;)

  10. A big congradulations from me also. Pepper will be happy if you are. It's the two of you.

  11. Better get her tied down before the winds from the hurricane get out your way. That should be your first priority.

Congratulations, I am very happy for you. I know that you will be a lot better off now. Don't know how you stayed in the dungeon. Enjoy!!!

  12. The "Trailer Trash" club of Texas welcomes you! I made it through hurricane IKE in a 34' Camp Trailer....did knock some stuff off the wall. I filled all the tanks to make it heavier. 100 MPH for 11 hours..discovered the term..eye wall!

  13. lou, you may be right about that. ;)

Dizzy-Dick, No chance of getting this tied down before that gets here. I figure the wind will either be out of the south or southeast and that would cut down on the impact a lot if it is. I was in a little smaller trailer when Rick came through here about this time last year and that trailer handled it ok other than a lot of rock'in and roll'in. Lets hope this one does the same. I think its considerably heavier than the other one.

frann, I've been trailer trash a few times in my life. Beats dungeon trash by a mile. I think this trailer will handle the wind, but if it gets too harry then we can always go sit it out in the dungeon.

  14. We are very happy your new home has arrived. Everytime it got cold in the winter or hot this spring my mom would ask me how you had faired the night before.

Thank you Dale for helping your uncle out and Johnny for driving it down. There is no doubt family and good friends are real treasures.

I know you and Pepper will be a lot happier in your new digs.

  15. Hello all,

We appreciate all of the thank you's, but they are totally unnecessary. We're glad to be in a position to be able to leave the trailer out there. As it turns out Unc is doing us a favor as well, since we would have to pay to store it here. We know out there it'll be used and kept so we don't worry about things quiting due to non-use. We'd also have to buy another pickup to be able to pull it around here. So, it turns out to be one of those win-win things for all of us. On another note, I do remember the song Unc talked about earlier. I didn't know it meant to him and my Pop, but thinking on it, I should have. I haven't said this to David, but I came to a realization when we took him Pepper and the water tank, we're only doing things my Pop would have done, and not thought twice about it. My wife, kids and I all hope David and Pepper get great use out of the trailer and it helps yall have a much better time living out there in your little piece of heaven.

    We love you!

  16. Turd Floater...this has been your Houston Weather Update....

    ReplyDelete
  17. Are you getting any rain there David?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I bet if it is raining, he is just kicken back in the new home enjoying it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. frann, I've been through a few of those in Houston. As a matter of fact I've been involved in a few freeway parties where traffic was stalled on the freeways because of high water and someone would wade over to a 7/11 and by beer and everyone on the overpasses would have a few.

RN, we had a pretty heavy rain earlier and its been off and on showers since then. Slow drizzle right now.

I, I am kicking back for sure.

  20. I love him, too, Dale ... and love your family for being there for him ... thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU.

Dang, I'm such a girl ... dadgum eyes are tearing up again :)

  21. Oh, and as far as rain ... we've had A LOT this evening, and into the night ... a whole lot.

  22. Dave, maybe I missed something, but, did those people just give you this trailer? Is it a long term loaner? If that's the case, what will you do with the Dungeon?
    Wishing you success in everything.

    ReplyDelete
  23. As for the ac, maybe you could run it more if you had two more wind generators? The trailer does look great. When do you plan on starting the building?

    ReplyDelete
  24. MsB, it was a challenge along the way, but I made it to now and since the living conditions have improved a lot I shouldn't have much trouble making it through the rest of the summer.

    MC, control yourself. ;)

Allen, its a loaner, but will likely be here for a good while. Like Dale said its a win win situation. They like to ride their bikes down here and visit here so they will also have a semi comfortable place to stay when they do come. See the next part of this message to Scavenger to find out about the dungeon and build.

Scavenger, Not much chance of ever being able to use the AC unless it was VERY hot and then it would have to be by using the generator. As far as the build? Plans are to keep the dungeon for storage and start buying lumber and the stuff for the build and store it in the dungeon until I have enough material to start and finish the build at one time. Could take as long as a year or more to have everything ready to start.

  25. Well...who won the fight? The Vinegaroon or the Sun spider? My money is on Vinegaroon!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Is it still raining there Its still raining here (Odessa)

    ReplyDelete
  27. frann, you are correct. the Vinegaroon did win the fight.

RN, its still raining off and on. Had a pretty heavy one a couple of hours ago that probably lasted about 15 minutes.

  28. Howdy Unc,

Hope all is well out there, not getting too much rain. We just swam in from the HD shop, the bottom let out on us all the way home. We all made it safely home, and are now ringing out the clothes and finding something to eat. Glad to hear you and Pepper are doing better in the new digs! We'll get out that way as soon as I can work some more time off at work, I go back tomorrow as my vacation is over. I'll let you know when it looks like we might get to head that way.

    Take care

  29. Dale, We got slammed with rain and a lot of the road that runs in front of the dungeon was under water, but the falcon made it through it ok. Several places around here look like lakes and rivers. The entrance to the road I usually take to get in here looked like it probably had about 2 to 3 feet of water running through the low part so I had to come back in from the Legion.

BTW they had another feed and party at the BBMI and I rode in with my neighbors to it again. Wasn't in the party barn this time because of all the rain. They moved it inside to the conference room. The Bent Lovehandles provided the music (The guy that I posted the video links to a thread or two back and his partner).

  30. Mucho problemos,

first of all, I forgot about the time difference of 2 hrs. second- I didnt figure on being so tired leaving at 10 pm friday I thought I could drive straight through and get to Terlingua around noonish. WRONG!!! I was so tired I forgot my wallet at a rest area next to a prison and was freeking out till I made it back and the wallet with all its contents still sitting in the place I left it. AMAZING.. but them I realized I was too tired so I pull over and took a nap. Then the rain, the rain caused delays all over the place. I wasted time looking for a room in marfa and alpine. Detour in alpine took me all the way around alpine before I figured out I was going to ft davis on accident in the dark. Had to drive slow, so finally when I got close to the legion, everything was dark and I figured I screwed up because it was 10 pm saturday to me, but 12 midnight to Terlingua. Went into Terlingua which took me way too long to drive in because I was tired and slow. Finally got a room but had to wake up the nice woman who I all ready forgot her name. I am so tired cause I have been up for 2 days I think I'll sleep and find you in the morning after coffee. SORRY

  34. Happy Fourth back to every one. I'll be going south this afternoon to drive the tow vehicle for the Legion's float. I guess that will be the high point of my day. Nick should be getting here before long.
