My attempt to make it to my 10 acres in Terlingua Ranch and make a go of living on it. From the start it hasn't gone good at all, but I'm hopeful things will turn around!

7/10th inches of rain fast!
With a high of 112 degrees here today and a 16% chance of rain we got this. The temp dropped to 78 degrees and part of the floor in my cabin looks like a swimming pool. I won't gripe about that though it will dry out.
I probably got somewhere around 145 gallons of catchment out of this rain.
MsB, 9 Points Mesa is a rainbow magnet. I've seen several double rainbows over or near it in the past. Got a long way to go on the catchment, but every little bit helps.
And for the lost sock? Well a pare of socks got soaked when the floor flooded so I hung them on a chair outside to dry. Ms Shelah decided one of them would be a good toy so its in her dog house. (Under the cabin) Crazy dog!!!
Yep SUERTE, but its supposed to be triple digit temps again today and all the humidity is going to make it a bear! No doubt the mosquitoes are going to get bad to and with having to leave the door open is just going to be inviting them in.
Don & I also used to have a serious problem with a leaking roof in our cabin. So we replaced the roof.
To further minimize any leaks inside the cabin - we replaced the Celotex (particleboard) ceiling - with the same tin roofing material that was used on top of the cabin. This was far cheaper than plywood or sheet rock - and it absolutely keeps all rainwater out. of you cabin,

SOUNDS GOOD
ReplyDeleteIs good JB, even with the wet floor and a missing sock.
DeleteTerlingua is the only place I know where after a rain there is a double rainbow...very nice picture.
ReplyDeleteGlad your rain catchment is getting filled.

Got rain and got your floor washed at the same time. Can't beat that!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think of it that way DD, but I guess you are right.

Ronald, problem is I don't know if its the roof or the window that's leaking. If it is the roof its right over the window.
DeleteFire the carpenter!
ReplyDeleteI already did. That's why this place isn't finished.
