Damn Spam!

Anymore I get floods of spam on my various email addresses dealing with my site. Lately its been love letters from Ukrainian ladies? AND emails written mainly in Chinese advertising Viagra and the other medications that are supposed to do the same thing. I guess the Chinese think that since I have so many Ukrainian  women hot for my bod then I'll need plenty of medication to make sure I can handle them. ;)

I REALLY HATE SPAM, but it seems now days there is no stopping it. I even tried to remove the Google ads from this blog, but found out it only removed me from getting any $ for allowing it (as if I ever did) Now the ads are still appearing anyway. If you are thinking about adding them to your blog think twice. Evidently once added they are there to stay.

I can add filters to block most spam, but spammers keep getting smarter and keep making it harder and harder to block their spam. For instance blocking all of the crap Chinese spam is almost impossible because of the Chinese alphabet and it changes from message to message.

The bad part about all of this is that on my web site I have forums.and the forum software sends out notifications to my members when there is a new reply to a thread they are watching and to notify them they have private messages when that happens. Now some times the big ISPs decide those messages are SPAM and start blocking mail from my mail server. I have to duke it out with them to get them to quit blocking it. Its amazing that they can block legitimate American grown mail and let all of the spam through. Also funny that blogger sends out notifications the same way, but those never get blocked.

  1. I hate it, my web-site gets bunches of it. You would have to be an awful lonely person to like spam, and I don't mean the canned meat.

  2. It really Sucks DD. The more the big ISPs try to stop it the more they walk on the little guy. Not sure that's the only reason though. I think they figure the little guy takes business from them. Funny how it is that a lot of ISPs that occasionally block mail from my server haven't even existed a 4th the time my website has.

  5. I like Spam. Old school ham Spam, Turkey Spam its great to keep around if we have a zombie apocalse. Spam will last forever and it will sit in your gut forever also. It reminds me of the Apple Pie at the "Old Segovia Truck Stop" outside of Segovia, Texas on I-10, that pie will sit in your gut and not digest untill you hit El Paso.

  6. I like Ham Spam, but that's it. Don't know why they call email spam spam because that's an insult to the real thing. I like ham spam diced and added to spaghetti sauce for spaghetti. Sure is good!

  7. I get that same spam from the Ukranian ladies! A couple of months ago it was mainly mail trying to sell me male enhancements and rolex watches. It's a shame that we have to put up with all that crap, and I'm inundated with it ever since I went to gmail. Never happened when I was with Charter Comm. or Bell South when I lived in Asheville.

  9. Gypsy, I was getting all of the fake Rolex spam for a long time, but it seems to have slowed down and now its the Ukranian ladies, Viagra and so on. Sort of makes you wonder what will be next???

Frann, I think that probably started in Hawaii many many years back when refrigerators weren't to be had. Spam could be kept in the cans without refrigeration so provided another form of meat. It caught on and is still real popular there. I generally keep a can or more of it around here. Problem is that with the fridge being out here I can't eat a whole can of it before it would go bad so seldom open one. I also love fried spam and eggs and and fried spam and cheese sandwiches. I much prefer it over processed ham! Humm... I guess that's basically what it is. ;)
