Hot n Cold

Looks like the weather can't figure out what it wants to do. Yesterday was fair, but a little cool. Today has and is a great day, but it got down to 26 degrees here early this morning. Now tomorrow its supposed to get up to 90. That is one hell of a swing in just a short time!

Anyway, today being so nice it gave me a chance to clean out the fridge, wash some pots and pans and check out the AC running off of the new inverter. It and the fridge running at the same time did just fine so it looks like for the first time since I've been here I won't melt in the summer heat. Things have sure changed in the last (going on 4 years). I'm going to have to shift some panels from the second bank to the main bank, but that isn't a problem at all. The problem now will be HOT cloudy days. Guess I'll burn some gas in the charger on those days. Or just deal with the heat.

I never got the AC installed in here before winter, but its about time to get that done!

  1. Are you going to install a swamp cooler or a/c unit. I think a swamp unit would be perfect for your new place. An a/c unit may work for a short time, but it's going to be subject to failure from several directions.

Save your money and go with swamp.

  2. Larry, I'm going to use a refrigerated window unit. Evaps are what fail around here because of the bad water. The last evap I used was so scaled up in a few weeks that I had to clean the pad. The next time it took even a shorter time to fail. Not to mention the fact that it used 8 gallons of water a day.

  3. Besides that, they blow HOT air when it gets hot here. Circulating hot water = hot air. Been there, done that.

  4. TnT, if I had an unlimited amount of catchment water an evap wouldn't be a bad deal most of the time. The humidity is changing here and on the hot humid days a swamp cooler just adds insult to injury.

  6. Twenty six degrees is pretty darn chilly!

Going on four years? My how time flies...I still remember reading your comments in other blogs when you were still living in the big city.

  8. MsB, A 51 degree difference is a pretty big difference in 12 hours. Yeah some times it seems like I've been here for ever.

    Welcome to my blog Jill.

BTW its windy as hell now and was most of the night. For now a mild sand storm and hazy with a temp of 49 degrees. Low last night was 46.

  9. When the weather is unpredictable, you must always get your furnace and A/C unit checked. You don’t know when it’s going to be hot or cold, so don’t let your family and yourself suffer from the consequences of having a broken furnace or AC. It’s better to be ready than not. Get your new A/C installed before anything turns worse. I can almost feel the hot weather around here too; good thing we just recently replaced the A/C unit. ->Oma Gammel
