  2. frann, it was a good time and I think everyone liked it. I even caught Just Me throwing water balloons back at those who were throwing them at spectators. In the case of the one I saw her throwing it backfired and burst as soon as she launched it. ;) This had to be a Terlingua/Study Butte styled parade and I've never seen one like it before. Big cities Ain't got nothing on us!

We were threatened by a heavy rain storm just before it ended and it was drizzling on us all the way back to the Legion and dungeon. Dave the bar manager and I rode in and back with Nick and Mariah. They will be trying out the dungeon tonight when they get back from having dinner with Just Me.

  3. Looks like you guys had a ball. Hope I can make the one next year.

Glad to hear it did not rain in your parade. This past hour we have been having torrential rains in Del Rio. Stay safe.

  4. MsB, there is more rain in the forecast for at least the next 5 days. Hopefully no more heavy stuff. I think everyone else down here has joined me in wanting it to STOP! Everyone's catchment tanks are full and we just don't need anymore rain.

Hope you can make it down here next year.

  7. Just Me, I'm sure there will be others show up at the legion since Dave took a bunch of pictures also. If I see any good ones then I'll try to get him to email them to me so I can post them. I'd have liked to have a few pictures of the whole thing, but from being in the cab of the PU that left that out. Hope you plastered a bunch of the water balloon throwers because they sure plastered a bunch of spectators!

Raye, I sure hope so. That would be great, but quiet likely very hot next year.

  8. Well, if everyone makes it down next year for it, we'll all have to set up water balloons! lol Sounds like it was a lot of fun to have missed, but some of us had to work, yuck. Hope the rain eases up on ya, have fun with your company.

  10. Dale, maybe next year? Then again maybe you can ride on the float I'll be pulling. I'm thinking about using the trike to pull my trailer after decking it out. ;)

ezrablu, I figure that's what pictures are for.

  14. MC, too bad you couldn't have been down here for it.

frann, I didn't talk to yhr guy, but I'm sure it is very old technology. I think in WW1 or WW2 the military was experimenting with it. The way it works is you put wood in a closed metal chamber and then heat it from the outside with more wood. It cause the wood inside to give off a gas that can be piped to an engine and will run it.

  15. I've seen the kerosene refrigerators of the older days, so this doesn't seem too far fetched! It looks like something that Jethro Bodine from the Beverly Hillbillies built, but I will ask my father if he has ever heard of it! He will be 97 on September 8! To me, it sound a little like a steam engine with gases instead of water!

  16. Frann, that project belongs to Casey and Sara - I think this page on their site describes the thing: http://allenergies.net/biomass/background.html. There's a link on that site to their blog, too.

It's probably a good thing I wasn't at the parade because I would have bugged the crap out of all the people with the horses :) I can't see a horse without wanting to go over and pet and ask his name and 20 other questions, LOL

  17. Great pics, David! We wanted to go to the parade, but the heavy rains on Sat prevented us from getting out on our road. We watched the big BLACK cloud move toward Study Butte late Sunday afternoon, and hoped that the rain would miss all the festivities. Hopefully we can see the parade next year: Lord willing and the creek don't rise! (this is Rebecca/aka lifelightfarm...hubby and I met you at the Grub Shack.)
