Stood Up!

Don't know how many of you know or not, but I do have a real web site www.tffn.net and have been running it for almost 13 years now. Anyway I decided I'd host a get together for my members down here and had been planning it since last year. At first there was a lot of interest, but then as time went on it dropped off. This weekend was to be it, but it looks like I'll be the only one here. Oh well... Pay Backs Comming!

On the other hand there are lots of Fords down here this week end. Cobra cars and others have shown up for their get together. See pictures. This was at the Legion and I'd just left about 15 minutes earlier. :( They will be back there Saturday though and I plan to be there.
Thanks to Dave Secor for the photos!

  1. The Ford GTX1 is VERY nice and it also has a VERY VERy VEry Very very nice price tag on it! In 2005 they were going for $48,000.00, but I'd imagine the price has gone up (NOT DOWN) a good bit since then.

  2. Yeah, even though they are Fords, still sad that I missed that.

  3. Not so keen on the modern retro cars in general, but Ford do the best job! GTX1 is beautiful!

  6. Will they really shut down 118 to let the Shelby cars run wild? Hope so, that would be a blast. Would like to see that. May have to come to that event next time it happens.

  7. The new 5.0 liter 440hp 2012 Boss 302 is coming next year! Check out Jay Leno's garage at www.jay leno's garage.com for all of his Mustangs and others, He gets the super limited edition Mustangs that are not for production! One is the 2009 GT40 Mustang that does a factory 9 second 1/4 mile! I remember when he ordered it, i think it was about $350,000K! Interviews with the head engineer of Ford and Shelby himself!

  8. Those are some beautiful cars, without a doubt! Not something you would expect to see out in the desert!

Just joined your blog following, and I am enjoying it a lot!

    You have a great day!

  9. I bet they are all envious as they don't have a Falcon!!

  10. Jim, I take it you aren't a ford fan. Can't believe I invited you over here. ;) Kidding of course...

RN, the only falcon down here will be mine. :( the one and only of my members that made it here didn't drive his. He brought his pickup instead. We will be hanging out here probably until late evening and then he will go to his room at BBMI. He will probably be back here when all of the Cobra cars show back up at the legion. No other plans so far.

BTW he was impressed at all the stars he could see in Big Springs last night. It should blow him away down here!

    neil, thanks for the links.

DD, from what I hear the sheriff's department will assign a deputy to act as a pace car and those cars will be able to run behind the deputy faster than what the posted speeds are, but they will NOT be able to pass him. At least that was planned, but I haven't heard whether it would actually happen or not. I also hear that they will close the Lajitas airport and they will be racing there. Of course the pace car deal is easy enough to circumvent by falling way behind and then driving like hell until you catch up. We did that at the Texas Motor Speedway when I got to take laps in the falcon. I think the pace car there was set at about 80 MPH, but I got the falcon well over 100 doing that and going around the banks that fast was a real blast!

    Fred, good info.

HermitJim, Glad to have you following! I generally check the blogs of anyone following mine, but don't post much usually.

Frann, most people with mustangs don't care too much for falcons, but then most of those people don't know that the first mustangs were basically falcons with different sheet metal. Otherwise most of the stuff was from falcon production making Falcons the father of the mustangs.

  11. David, sorry, I didn't know it was to be this weekend. My fault, I didn't check. Dennis

  12. Dennis, I guess that's a mistake a bunch of people made or I'm just not loved anymore. ;) Shucks! Rick and I had a good time solving the world's problems last night and stargazing. I'll be headed to BBMI shortly and we'll probably make a day of sight seeing and then try to be back here and the legion when all the cobra cars show up there again.

  13. There is a road rally held down there that I read about in the Big Bend Gazette once. I think it's run out of Fort Stockton, and goes down to Sanderson via US 285. They actually shut down the highway to regular traffic so that the rally cars can have it to themselves. If you're interested it could probably be found on-line. Those are some cool Fords in those pics. Thanks for posting. My first car was a 1962 (I think) Ford Falcon station wagon. It had a western themed cowboy brands motif on the seat covers. I loved it, and wish I had it now.
